James leads training and skills development across Rackspace globally, including areas such as technical, sales, professional services and leadership.
At Rackspace, James built out the firm’s Global Talent Development function to enhance the skills of the existing workforce before expanding his role to include recruitment, retaining skills and identifying areas where there is a business need for new expertise.
James’ key focus is to ensure the company’s talent management strategies are innovative, yet simple. He has been instrumental in the ‘process of learning’ that has become a recognised, sustainable part of how Rackspace grows and retains its talent.
His team has been responsible for an 80% increase in remote-enabled training delivery as a well as the significant adoption of on-demand, self-directed learning tied to career paths.
Outside of work, James is also a father and a keen cyclist.
